Please check if the issue occurs using Firefox in safe mode (with your addons disabled): http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode And on a new, empty profile: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles#w_starting-the-profile-manager
Component: Untriaged → Graphics
Product: Firefox → Core
Version: Firefox 38 → 38 Branch
Flags: needinfo?(pavrw)

(In reply to Paul Silaghi, QA [:pauly] from comment #1) > Please check if the issue occurs using Firefox in safe mode (with your > addons disabled): > http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode No. In safe mode the pages are properly shown. > And on a new, empty profile: > http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles#w_starting-the-profile- > manager Yes. It's also happening. However, I noticed that: - open tab #1 to any url (got a blank!) - open #2 with another url (another blank) - close tab #x and reopen it - now every tab is shown properly after switching MAGIC!

Could you try turning HWA OFF ? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems#w_turn-off-hardware-acceleration

Will HWA need to be disabled (If I don't change anything) on future releases? Consider this is happening on nightly but not on stable. Thanks!

(In reply to pavrw from comment #6) > Will HWA need to be > disabled (If I don't change anything) on future releases? Consider this is > happening on nightly but not on stable. Let's hope the problem gets fixed until then. One other question: do you have e10s enabled in nightly? If yes, do you reproduce the problem with e10s OFF and HWA ON ?
(In reply to Paul Silaghi, QA [:pauly] from comment #7) > One other question: do you have e10s enabled in nightly? Yes > If yes, do you reproduce the problem with e10s OFF and HWA ON ? No. Seems it's a e10s + HWA issue.

This is somewhat strange - we already block the acceleration (see comment 4), but things further improve when we explicitly turn on layers.acceleration.disabled (by disabling HWA acceleration in the prefs.) Benoit, can you check if fully blocked device/driver combinations work properly with E10S, on one of the lab machines? pavrw: is this still a problem for you on nightly or any of the other releases, with acceleration preference enabled?

Nominating for retriage in case pavrw or Benoit determine this is still a problem.
