User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/38.0 Build ID: 20150212030231 Steps to reproduce: Don't know. Actual results: Occasionally I will be viewing a webpage in e10s and firefox will freeze but only for a second. For example as I type this sometimes I can't see what I'm typing until a second later. Restarting Nightly fixes it. Although I have just switched to x64 builds I had the same problem occasionally in x86 builds. To measure responsiveness in Firefox I use a swirl graphic, https://i.imgur.com/BdRFZB6.gif , which is an animated GIF that continuously moves. Any break in the animation and I observe a momentary freeze in Firefox. I have taken attached a video to contrast the difference. I have Nightly open and after the freezes start occurring I open two windows, one e10s on the left and one non-e10s on the right, and put the swirl gif on both. I then take the focus off either window. The video shows how the non-e10s window operates without incident but the e10s window has freezes. My past experience has led me to believe this is some sort of interaction between e10s windows and plugin-container (see bug 1099497), however I can't be sure. I am not running any extensions or any plugins other than the default OpenH264 codec. Rarely I have experienced a similar type of momentary freeze in earlier versions of Firefox before e10s was introduced, however it either went away or I restarted the browser. I'm sure I reported that but I can't find it here. Expected results: There should be none of these momentary delays regardless. They are blocking and stifle the user experience.

The attachment upload was unsuccessful because the size is too big. Instead I uploaded it here: https://vid.me/FKrO Freezes are about ~15sec and ~1m50sec in.

I was easily able to reproduce the 50sec hang on my retina MBP.

There is bug 1065463 about random freezes of the UI with OMTC (likely since FF33), the user cannot right click anymore to browse a tab, left cliking or waiting a few seconds is enough to have the hand again.

After your post I disabled OMTC to test what would happen. layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled = false Unfortunately, now several days later I encountered the problem again. I resumed from sleep just now and Firefox has those e10s specific freezes. I'm using build 20150219070749 38.0a1 (2015-02-19). I'm going to restart. If there's anything I can do the next time this happens please let me know.

I'm still having this problem and it's become quite annoying. OMTC has been disabled since my last post. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do. gecko.buildID = 20150501030205 gecko.mstone = 40.0a1

gecko.buildID = 20150720030213 gecko.mstone = 42.0a1 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:42.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/42.0 For the last two weeks I've been using the build above with e10s windows. I stuck with it because I noticed something that I didn't notice in previous builds which is that it was running without momentary freezes. It's been open two weeks straight in Windows 7 x64 with no freezes and I haven't had to restart it despite numerous OS hibernations and soft sleeps. I don't know what changed but something did. Maybe it's something on my end, some website I'm no longer visiting? I don't know, I can't think of one. I will eventually update Nightly but I thought it important to earmark this in case I later forget should things go south again.

For the last month I've been stuck using ESR but for August and September I don't recall it happening.
