strictly speaking, they are not really as fast as native menus. check that, they aren't as fast as 4.x native menus. Since they are still pretty zippy the best way to see this is to watch them draw on my Linux box (p133) and then try Nova on the same box. Noticeable diff. Now if someone says, "hey there not just not going to be 100% as fast" okay, but i haven't heard than yet.
