As discussed in yesterday's meeting, we currently cache the contents of config files (such as update-settings.ini and channel-prefs.js) before changing them, and then restore them by writing those cached contents back to the file. Rather than doing that, this bug suggests that we simply make a local backup of the file before changing it, and then restore the entire file from that backup at the end of the test.

This doesn't block the initial version of update tests and can be done afterward.

We stopped running update tests and as such any work on those tests.
