Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Scratchpad
2. Uncheck "Show Line Numbers" in the "View" menu
3. Check "Show Line Numbers" in the "View" menu
Actual results:
Now the line numbers are aligned to the right.
Expected results:
Not sure which alignment is better, but it should remain the same.

Version: 39 Branch → 31 Branch
Confirmed on WinXP(Fx39) and Win7(Release39 - Nightly42). (I was going to report the same issue)
The numbers and dropmarker(s) are misaligned.
I'm pretty sure this is CodeMirror bug. Don't have time to download CodeMirror4.2 currently used in Fx and the last version of CodeMirror to check. Don't attempt to fix it until bug 1132557 is fixed.

Scratchpad was removed in Bug 1519103 (Firefox 72). You can check the alternative in https://wiki.developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Deprecated_tools#Scratchpad .
The Scratchpad bug list was reviewed and I think this bug can be safely closed.
