Details

(Whiteboard: Bug is in Mac OS X)

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-US; rv:0.9.6+) Gecko/20011210 BuildID: 2001121008 if you make a screenshot in the navigator or mail window unsing the shortcut apple+shift+4 and drag the mouse, a large number of composer windows are created. Possibly it will stop after a certain number but sometimes there are so many that mozilla becomes unresponsible. it appears only if you can use the shortcuts apple+4, that means mozilla shows this behaviour not if you are for example in the javascript console. (This is an other bug). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a browser window. 2. press apple+shift+4 drag the mouse and click the mouse 3. happy composing (-; Actual Results: a huge number of composer windows open. Expected Results: nothing should happen. Except there is a shortcut with apple+shift+4 Mac OS X 10.1 with Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical USB Powerbook 400 FW (Pismo)
this is a CFM build of mozilla, right? does the same behavior happen in os9?

i don't have the same build in OS9, but the build 2001120604 doesn't show this behaviour. My OSX build is a .app so i can't start it in OS9. And my OS is Mac OS 10.1.1 and it happens with also with the trackpad.
WorksForMe using Mac/2001112011 (0.9.6) on Mac OS 9.2.2.
Also WorksForMe using Fizzilla/2001120608.
As i said it only occurs in Mac OS X 10.1.1 and i am using the http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/mozilla-macosX-trunk.smi.bin build now from 20011211. Same result.
Florian, my test of Fizzilla/2001120608 was on OS X 10.1.1, and I didn't encounter the problem. Can you reproduce this using a new Mozilla user profile?
Ok i think i know the problem now. In Mac OS 9 you have to release the shift key before you can drag the mouse to make a screenshot. So out of habit i did apple+shift+4+release shift+drag mouse. Then you get my described behaviour. if i make apple+shift+4+drag mouse+klick+release 4+ release shift+release apple everything is allright. but even if i try to release all keys at once there can open a few composer windows. Does it now the same thing at you? P.S. i tried it with a new profile and my old. and with 20011211 and 20011214
Confirming this behavior in Fizzilla/2001120608, though this appears to be a bug in Mac OS X, not Fizzilla. When you press Command-Shift-4, then release only Shift while still holding Command and 4, after you drag the mouse cursor a large number of Command-4 key sequences will be sent to the frontmost application, with effects that depend on that application. For example, Mozilla spawns a number of Composer windows, since that's what Command-4 does in Mozilla. In IE, the Download Manager window is invoked many times, though ultimately only one is spawned. Resolving Invalid since this isn't a bug in Fizzilla. (Florian, be advised that you needn't hold down any of those keys. Simply press Command- Shift-4, then release all keys. Observe that the crosshair cursor remains until you drag and click to set the screenshot boundary.)

This is a bug. Holding down Command-4 should only give one composer window, not lots.

This works for me.... I tried to hold down apple-4 and it opened two composer windows and started alterating between them, but that doesnt seem like a bug... that behaviour is a dupe, I agree. But appele-shift-4 doesnt do anything for me at all.. Do I need to run some special program for screen shots? I tried to use "Grab" but you cannot configure it to work with short cut keys...
