Response just shows un-styled html markup, and Preview shows the page but without any styles applied. Neither is particularly useful. Some ideas: * response is somewhat useful but the text box is small enough to be pretty frustrating at typical laptop resolution - we could just add a button to open view source? * preview should at least show the fully rendered page, or perhaps just not be available for html documents
Why would preview show the fully rendered page? You're ... literally looking at it. Or do you want a snapshot/screenshot at the time of the request? The usefulness of the preview pane is seeing the markup without any styles or js running.
(In reply to Victor Porof [:vporof][:vp] from comment #1) > The usefulness of the preview pane is seeing the markup without any styles > or js running. If I did want that I would want a much larger viewport - that preview pane is extremely cramped for a full document and lacks any way to inspect the document. Where I'm coming from is - there are a lot of panes in there now, and I'm wondering if we should turn some off in some cases, for example non-SSL requests don't have a security pane. Another approach might be to combine very similar panes, eg the response and preview panes.
