This bug was found by partner and it is only reproducible on partner device. They have done some investigation and find that the gps positions returned by device are actually correct. So this should be a problem with Here Maps. [Testing Steps ]: (a) starting 'Here Map' app. (b) goto the navigation key at the right corner. (c) starts navigation from current location(noida city center) to destination(Noida Secctor -18). (d) Current location pointer get freeze and moves to correct location after few seconds. [Testing Result ]:DUT's current location pointer does not move accurately. [Expected Result ]:DUT's current location pointer must must move correctly. [Reproduce rate]: 2/5
Attached is the log partner get. And here is the video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8zFbzIptpVDTDFKUHJSTUd0enc/view?usp=sharing

michael, could you please help with this bug? Please note that this bug can only be reproduced on partner device. And partner already checked that gps works fine, so it should be here map app's problem. I understand that it would be hard for them to investigate without a device. But could you please forward the logs to Here Map developer to see if they have some clue?
Thank you for reporting this issue. The video is a little hard to make sense of, as it is a little shaky. However, I think i got the message it was trying to convey. As I understand the issue, the current location is being displayed correctly by the app, but is occasionally struggling to keep up real-time with the user, as the user is in transit from noida city center to their destination at Noida Secctor -18. Is this correct? If so, it sounds to me like this issue might be being caused by the cellular data network struggling to communicate the rapidly changing location of the user while the drive down the road. In my experience, it is not uncommon for maps apps to have 1-2 seconds of lag time as they update current location, especially if the user is traveling at a swift rate. @Peipei Please let me know if I am not understanding the issue or elements correctly.

Hi Michael, May be Peipei is on vacation,I think I can help to answer your question: >As I understand the issue, the current location is being displayed correctly by the app, but is >occasionally struggling to keep up real-time with the user, as the user is in transit from noida city >center to their destination at Noida Secctor -18. Is this correct? Your understanding is right. >it is not uncommon for maps apps to have 1-2 seconds of lag time as they update current location, >especially if the user is traveling at a swift rate But it is said from our QA that some time we will have to wait more than 10 seconds to get the current position update,I think this is uncommon. What's more,Our engineer gets that the position info was reported normally when issue occur(during 17:33~17:37),so our GPS function is fine, but why here maps can not deal with these data in time?

Here Maps will not be able to do anything on this bug, as we think the issue lies with either the data provider or the GPS component of our platform. Not with Here Maps. NI @Doug Turner - Who might be able to provide an update on this bug from a platform perspective.

I only have more questions. It looks like the device is using wifi or cell position -- and not gps. Is this using wifi based position, or gps? Can I see a copy of the gpsd.conf file? What device/chipset is it?

Doug, I think it is using GPS since the tester is outdoor. The device is Dolphin(chipset is spreadtrum 7715) jingmei, could you please help get the gpsd.conf file?

Hi Doug, Can you help to explain where can I get the file 'gpsd.conf'? I can not find it in the whole b2g Directory ;(
Flags: needinfo?(jingmei.zhang) → needinfo?(dougt)
doh, no 'd' in the file name: adb pull /etc/gps.conf

(In reply to Doug Turner (:dougt) from comment #9) > doh, no 'd' in the file name: > > adb pull /etc/gps.conf Hi Doug, gps.conf file is only used in flame, but this is a dolphin issue, there is no gps.conf file in patch /etc Can you help to check it in dolphin?

Does this device have a GPS device?

(In reply to Doug Turner (:dougt) from comment #11) > Does this device have a GPS device? Hi Doug, Yes,Dolphin has a GPS device. So what information about GPS in dolphin do you want to get?
Flags: needinfo?(dougt)
So, someone needs to confirm if the GPS and the Gonk geolocation provider is working. I suspect this is a few minutes with a device and a debugger. I am happy to do this, but I do not have a device. Since I do not have a device, I am of little value debugging this problem.

Hey Doug, we can lend you a Dolphin Device if you would like to take a look at this issue. You're in MTV, yes? Feel free to reply to my ping on IRC.

The dolphin I was lent worked as expected.
