In the Mozilla mail client, there is no way to remove the delete flag from messages.

I would guess (only a guess) that the reporter's talking about "mark as deleted" in IMAP. Reporter, you can use Undo. I bet this is a duplicate of 59694, reporter can reopen if it's not the IMAP undelete case. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 59694 ***

Yes, I'm talking about IMAP. "Undo" does not work. Suppose that you mark a message for deletion and close Mozilla. Then you restart Mozilla and notice that you do not want to delete a certain message. In this case, Undo won't work.
