So I'd be willing to bet that this was caused by bug 1124084, and bug 1163878 (which has already been pushed) should mostly or entirely resolve it. We should double-check that once bug 1163878 lands.

Confirmed. In this screenshot [1] from the Raptor dashboards, you can see the 2MB increase in Gallery memory on around 5/7, then on about 5/13 there is a decrease of about 10MB.
