Navigating from address box to document using the keyboard has become unintentionally cumbersome with the latest updated to search UI: Hitting [TAB] when the search text box has focus results in switching between search engines instead of forwarding focus to the document. This is quite cumbersome in daily use. There are so many keys available for switching the search engine, incl. [CTRL]+[ARROW DOWN]/[ARROW UP] that the [TAB] key should be reserved for only switching between search text box, document and address bar (using [SHIFT]+[TAB]).
Component: Search → Keyboard Navigation
STR: 1. Type "a" in Searchbar 2. Click in Urlbar 3. Press Tab 4. Press Tab Result: After Step 4 the 1st "One Off Button" is focused Expectations: After Step 4 page content should gain focus Note: This not only happens because [1] {tab key now cycles between alternate search engines}, but also because [2] {suggestions appear automatically when user focuses searchbar with any input} I can list several bugs caused by [2]

The easy work around to this is to press escape, then tab to continue on. The shortcuts aren't brilliant here, and I think we're more likely to think at it once when we look at bug 782557.

Type: defect → enhancement
Depends on: 782557
Priority: -- → P5
Component: Search → Address Bar

This isn't a strict duplicate of bug 1437524, but I'm duping this to that bug regardless. Most tab-behaviour bugs are duped there and it's more useful to have a single place for discussion of these issues.
