Start a search in the rocketbar, after making that search try to make a small edit to the search by clicking on the rocket bar.

Expected: I can easily can change my search by doing a small edit to the search word or appending more search words.

Actual: I get a long URL search string, forcing me to completely delete the entire search strong. See screenshot.

Look at other mobile browsers: Firefox of Android, Chrome or Safari. Mobile users don't really car about the exact URL of the search but instead want an easy way to make edits to their search.

Seems like we need a UX spec first? I think also being able to start typing immediately after focusing is important for rocketbar.

I'm basically fully booked for work till the end of the month, and there's no clear course of action here.

Flagging UX for spec.

Removing the flag for UX since this was submitted by UX. This should be assigned to whomever works on the design and, given what we know of future releases, it's not clear if that work will be a priority. UX managers can assign for design later if appropriate.

From UX triage:

NI to Francis - is this something we would want to change?

Thanks for pinging the UX team!

This isn't true - the user doesn't need to delete the string. They can tap on the string to position the cursor.

The behaviour on FxOS follows Chrome and Fennec - tapping on the URL bar shows the entire URL, highlighted. I'm not sure what differences you're referring too.

In Fennec, when you type in a search term from the main page, it will go search it using your default search engine. However if you click on Fennec's search bar again, it will take you back to the main page, and just show your search term in the search bar.

See screenshots.
1. I searched for Orlando, the search engine loaded results.
2. I decided to change my search and clicked on the top search bar (rocket bar) and then all Fennec showed was "orlando", it removed all the additional search engine syntax.

Due to cancellation of Firefox OS, we don't plan on making any further updates.
