User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/38.0 Build ID: 20150525141253 Steps to reproduce: I had an e-mail exchange between another person and myself. In the process at some point I received an e-mail which whent into my inbox. This e-mail contained a logo, call it "A", which was displayed as an image within Thunderbird. This logo "A" was correct. Actual results: But when I replied to this e-mail (keeping the history inline), my freshly sent e-Mail in the outbox displayed in its history the e-mail text I had previosly received, but now with a different logo, call it "B". This logo "B" I had received (correctly) a long time ago from a very different e-mail from a very different contact. Thunderbird mixes up Logos (Attachments). Expected results: E-mails that come in with logo A should go out with the same logo A in the history part of the e-mail. It should never happen that Thunderbird mixes up Logos (Attachments?) between different e-mails. I can forward the e-mail received and the e-mail sent together with their pdf printouts (in case that the forwarding of the e-mails would messes up the attachmemnts again). Please understand that I can not have these e-mails or their pdf printouts displayed anywhere in public. Give my a private e-mail address where this could be sent to and please keep it confidential.
This bug could be related to bug 766495. It seems that this bug is recurring several times. With kind regards

Dear Wayne, I reinstalled version 38.0.1. Clicking "Forward" or "Reply" and sending the very same e-mail, in which the issue was encountered, to myself did not reproduce the error. I tried this for both cases (with or without compactation enabled) and the result is the same: not reproducible. Here some supplemental information I had not mentioned: Back then (in June), I had replied and forwarded the very same e-mail (including its history chain of e-mails being sent back and forth) to two different e-mail addresses, but one after the other (not at the same time). In each cases the proof that I had sent the e-mail is still in the Sent folder, but in both cases the logo in the history was mutated to the same "wrong" logo. The time interval between the "Reply to" and "Forward" was about 24 hours. I suspect that it is unlikely that compactation would have happened at these precise two moments, but you would know better than I. So it looks to me as the bug occurs coincidentally but unrelated to compactation. But also, the situation I had back then is not exactly the same as today. Let me thank you at this occasion for the great work you and your colleagues do in favor of the "free world". With kind regards, Pauli
