The RedSquare project is targeting a flip-phone form factor with no touch screen. We don't have reference hardware yet, and need a way to test our apps with a simulated flip phone keypad.
We can do this on desktop by modifying the Mulet emulator and our responsive mode devtools so that Mulet displays a flipphone keypad and sends key events to gaia. This will be easy to use but won't be able to test apps that require hardware support such as the camera, the sms app and the dialer, of course.
A second emulator is one that runs on a large-screen touchscreen, uses only 240x320 to display apps in, and uses the rest of the screen for a simulated flip phone keypad.
I will file sub-bugs for these two emulator types. I've already made good progress on the first and should have something ready soon.
It may also be possible to create a low-level emulator using an android emulator, but I've never used that, and don't plan to investigate that option myself.
