This may or may not be Tech Evangelism... Hallvord, do you know the relevant core bugs that might be relevant here? I see Bug 803014 was closed because apparently Gmail hacked around it.

Kapranov, can you provide a URL where we can reproduce? Is there a certain widget or page on vk.com where this is easiest to see?

I think that this is possible only after registration on the site vk.com. This will not work in any private messages or in the posts...

I can't be absolutely sure without looking at the VKontakte script, but I think it's a dup of bug 891247. I'm reluctant to recommend something like the messy hack GMail does to other sites. (Basically: secretly put cursor into a hidden rich text editor, let the paste command do whatever there, and extract the data: URL from the generated IMG tag). I think the 891247 fix is in Nightly now. I'll be poking it shortly to see if it's per spec. Kapranov: do you sometimes use Nightly on VK? Perhaps you could check if this behaves differently in Nightly? (/me crosses fingers the problem will go away in Nightly)

Hm.. I will first poke the implementation and see if we seem to be missing something, if it looks OK I'll see if I can register a test account on VK to look at the script.

The fix isn't really in Nightly yet.. Sorry.
