User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:40.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/40.0
Build ID: 20150812163655
Steps to reproduce:
Thunderbird automatically updated itself about 2 weeks ago. Now TB 38.2.0 and Lightning 4.0.2.
The computer (Windows 7) is normally put into hibernate mode overnight.
Actual results:
The date in the Today pane does not update on coming out of hibernation. It remains on yesterday's date. This is repeatable.
Expected results:
The Today pane date should update to today's date.

Hello Roger, do you get any error messages in Tools > Error Console when returning from hibernate mode?
Flags: needinfo?(roger)
The only error message (repeated 8 times) this morning was:
Timestamp: 31/08/2015 08:44:19
Error: TypeError: this.mDeferred is null
Source File: resource://gdata-provider/modules/gdataRequest.jsm
Line: 244
I assume this relates to 'Provider for Google Calendar' rather than Lightning.

Confirm the same error on Win7 32Bit

According to Bug 1196662 Comment 81 it seems this is just one effect from a core bug that affects sleep mode. Bug 1196662 Comment 81 suggests a workaround that you can test.
For this problem (though perhaps not the more general one referred to in comment 5) the workaround is to press the 'Go to Today' button in the Today pane after coming out of hibernation.

A little late reporting as this is the first I have seen of these bugs. However, can confirm the same error on Windows 8.1 32-bit as well as Win7 for current release of TBird 38.0.2 with both Hibernate or Sleep. Won't display events (except first) without having to click 'Go to Today' button.
