I can not reproduce this on Ubuntu 15.04

If you look at "about:buildconfig", under Configure Arguments, does it show --enable-system-cairo is used in the firefox build you are using? I can't reproduce it either on my nightly build, so I suspect this may be at fault. Also, in addition to checking your about:buildconfig and letting us know, could you check if it reproduces for you on one of our nightlies?

In addition, the GTK3 drag and drop pixmap rendering code changed significantly as of Firefox 42 (from the fix for bug 1186661). Can you please try to reproduce with the latest nightly?

I mis-assumed this was a GTK3 issue, sorry, but comment 0 references a build before the GTK3 switch.

Apparently the way selections are handled has changed and I am not longer able to select the text this way and thus cannot reproduce this bug on firefox 44.0a1 (nightly build from 10 minutes ago).
