(Reporter: morbicy, Unassigned)
Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:40.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/40.0
Build ID: 20150826023504
Steps to reproduce:
Open a video on youtube and make it full screen, then press the shutdown button on your PC.
Actual results:
After starting back up(from a shutdown), start Firefox and it will open in full screen mode.
Expected results:
Firefox should open in the last used window position, however, a full screen button on a video shouldn't save as your default window behavior.
This behavior started a few versions back and happens at least in Windows 7 and 10.
Summary: Firefox opens full screen if you had previously shutdown while video(youtube) was left full screened → Firefox opens fullscreen if you had previously shutdown while video(youtube) was left full screened

A video shouldn't over-right -any- settings at all. Why should a button from a third party change an applications behavior?

It's not the video that overwrites any settings (that would be a security issue).
You override the settings by going into fullscreen mode. The same happens if you use F11.
I can understand how this feels counterintuitive if you don't restore your tabs automatically when Firefox restarts, and you get about:home or your start page in fullscreen mode.
However, for people that do restore tabs automatically, I expect that "fixing" this bug would feel like a regression: if they were watching a video in fullscreen, closed Firefox, and then restart Firefox, they expect the same video will be back in fullscreen when restarting, and that seems like a sensible expectation, which fixing this bug (as-written) would break.
Making the restoration conditional on that preference (ie whether tabs get restored when restarting Firefox) feels wrong, but might be the most sensible thing to do.
Philipp, thoughts/ideas?

Orginal bug was solved and will by pushed to mozilla44.
To be honest I believe solution should be to give settings toggle (f.e. allow restoring to fullscreen mode or 3 position toggle 1 Do not restore to FS, 2. Restore to state on close, 3. Always start at FS). What do you think?

No, there exist various issues to restore to fullscreen mode, especially on OS X and Win 10, and other browsers no longer restore to fullscreen mode either.
