Details
We currently have telemetry for the performance of reader view, but we don't have any telemetry that lets us know how often users actually use this feature.
I think we should add a UI telemetry probe for this here:

We do start/stop a "reader.1" session:

Yes, a session is different than an "action" so I wouldn't block adding a new action.

We have completed our launch of our new Firefox on Android. The development of the new versions use GitHub for issue tracking.
