Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.7+) Gecko/20020123 BuildID: 2002012408 The main scrollbar on the right of the browser (in both Classic and Modern themes), is very narrow. Too narrow on average desktop sizes (1024x768 & 1280x1024) and unusable on desktop sizes equal or greater than 1600x1200. Bug 61188 states that the width doesn't follow the OS settings (under Windows). However, there is no way I know of to set the size on Linux (Redhat 7.2, Gnome/Sawfish). Hence there is no way to increase the scrollbar width. A setting in the Appearance preferences would be nice (perhaps it requires theme specific preferences or something?) (This is the only thing holding me back from switching from MS IE at present.) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open broswer 2.Observe scrollbar 3.Think 'gee that is really too narrow and should be fixed soon' :) Actual Results: I thought 'gee that is really too narrow and should be fixed soon'. Expected Results: I expected to be able to adjust the size somewhere (for regular users, in the preferences is a logical place). Redhat 7.2 standard install (XFree4.x).
> Bug 61188 states that the width doesn't follow the OS settings (under Windows). It doesn't say "under Windows", that bug is for all/all and fixing this would probably break that one. I suggest you try to help the assignee of bug 61188 with figuring out how on earth they're going to implement that feature for all/all. obtw, it works fine for me in 1600x1200, although I tend to use the scrollwheel. obtw2, how is this bug keeping you to MSIE when you're running linux? obtw3, you could try galeon, which uses the gtk+ theme for all of that. If you can't use any gtk+ apps because of too high resolution, I suggest you change gtk+ theme or resolution. feel free to reopen if you think I'm way off. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 61188 ***
