In the Mail/News Account Wizard you can choose to create two different accounts:

o ISP or email provider
o Newsgroup account

I think the former one should be named "E-mail account" to better describe what
it does, and to better match the second account type.

Below I will attach a patch.
In the Netscape builds, there's also 'Netscape Webmail' and 'AOL account'
options. I guess that's why the wording 'ISP or email provider' was initially
chosen because it covers just ISP accounts and POP3/IMAP4 accounts from third
party providers (not webmail services).

However, I think that 'E-mail account' is better wording but it should be
'Email' (sans hyphen) for consistency with the wording elsewhere in the product.

CC'ing Jennifer Glick and Robin Foster Clark.

Agree that we should use email (no hyphen), as this is consistent with Netscape
style guidelines.

Please add a space to the word "setup" in these two lines, so that it appears as
"set up":

<!ENTITY accountTypeDesc.label "This Wizard will collect the information
necessary to set up a Mail or Newsgroup account. If you do not know the
information requested, please contact your System Administrator or Internet
Service Provider.">

<!ENTITY accountTypeDirections.label "Select the type of account you would like
to set up:">
I need someone to review and check this in for me.

Updating summary from to reflect correct hyphenation.
Summary: "ISP or email provider" label should be "E-mail account" → "ISP or email provider" label should be "Email account"
Robin, you ok with changing "ISP or email provider" to just "Email account"?
Will the distinction between AOL email and Netscape Webmail be clear?
Jen raises a good point. To be clear about what we mean by "Email account" as
distinct from WebMail or AOL accounts, I'd suggest adding some parenthetical text:

* Email account (For example, through your ISP or email provider)
Please, don't! Do we really have to clutter up the dialog with that? It doesn't
really make it clearer either because AOL is an ISP and Netscape provides email
services and could therefore be considered an email provider.
I agree with André. If someone is planning to set up a Netscape Webmail (which
they seem to be calling Netscape Mail now) or AOL mail account, they will see
those options on the same screen and choose one of them rather than 'Email account'.
What about just "Email account (ISP or email provider)"?
My comments about AOL being an ISP and Netscape being an email provider still apply.
I agree that AOL is an ISP and Netscape is an email provider. But in the first
screen of the wizard, we are asking users to make a distinction (albeit, a
somewhat artificial one) to tell us which type of account they intend to create.
In order to help them make that distinction, I think "Email account" needs to be
clarified. Some suggestions:

"Email account (alternate ISP or email provider)" or possibly

"Email account (another ISP or email provider)"
Including "another" is even worse since it looks weird when the user doesn't see
the AOL and Netscape options (such as in Mozilla). I regret that I filed this
bug in the first place. Please don't mention me if you check in a patch that
looks something like those suggestions.
I agree with Alex's statement in comment# 11. I like the "Email Account" label
and user's who have AOL or Netscape WebMail will recognize those specific choices.
OK with me if Robin is ok with that. "Email Account"
I'll go along with the majority opinion for "Email Account"
Ninoschka, Jennifer & Robin,

All of you meant 'Email account', right ?

Or if it is 'Email Account', we need to change 'Newsgroup account' (in mozilla)
and AOL account in commercial builds to be consistent.
'Email account' ;-)
