Steps how to reproduce with en-US SeaMonkey 2.38 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:41.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/41.0 Build 20150923195647 (Classic Theme) on German WIN7 64bit: 1. Launch SeaMonkey e-mail client 2. Click 'Compose' icon to launch (Plain Text) e-mail Composer 3. 'rightclick → Languages' into mail body area to text what language currently is selected (for me: "fr-reform") 4. Start to type a text in a different language for what you have a dictionary installed (I did: German) » lots of red squiggly lines under the words 5. 'Mail toolbar → click on ▼ in Spell check icon → Select correct language for typed text' (German in my example) » Spell check dialog will open, complaining nearby every word because language selector in dialog still shows language detected in step 3 Expected: should show newly selected language. 6. Close spell check dialog → redo step 5: » checkmark left from language selected for typed text, but again selected text language again will show wrong language in dialog's language selector. 7. 'Mail toolbar → click on Spell Check Icon' » Spell check dialog will open, still complaining nearby every word because language selector in dialog still shows language detected in step 3 Additional information: ----------------------- a) that still worked fine with 2.35. I did not test 2.36, 2.37
b) this works for me if the preselection in c) so probably related to / DUP of "Bug 1216876 - Unintended change of Default Spelling-dictionary from "any other" to "fr-reform" " d) I did not find an obvious DUP in <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?cmdtype=dorem&remaction=run&namedcmd=DUPs1221570&sharer_id=41036> a): I will have to test whether 2.35 result really depends on Version or may be on not installed French dictionary? @Raymond: can you confirm my observations?
a): Still not reproducible with 2.35 although dictionary does exist. e) indicator for problem is that in step 5 no indicator left from dictionaries list no checkmark shows selected dictionary f) Problem only exists if I launch SM with 'Edit → Appearance → Spelling: language = fr-reform'
f): Today also a problem when launched with en-US default dictionary
OS: Unspecified → Windows 7

I'm not sure what happens here, but I can reproduce this with SeaMonkey 2.33.1 on Windows 7!
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true

Also REPRODUCIBLE with English SeaMonkey 2.43a1 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:46.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/46.0 Build 20151220153800 (Classic Theme) on VirtualBox Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
