I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean in this report. Can you provide more details or attach a screenshot?

I tried to install Fennec 43.0beta4 on Android 4.0.4 and 3.1.
After the installation, I cannot find the icon of Firefox on the homescreen, which means I cannot launch Firefox.

We did not force our icon onto early versions of Android. I think it was Android 4.1+ where the Play Store will add icons to the Android homescreen for newly installed apps. See bugs like bug 738464

I didn't use the Play Store.
I copied the apk to the devices, then tapped the apk to install Fennec.

We don't do anything to place a shortcut on the homescreen ourselves.
Summary: The shortcut of Fennec on the homescreen is missing after installation on Android 4.0- → Create a desktop shortcut if the apk is loaded outside an app store (sideloaded)

I’m sorry that I cannot reproduce this bug anymore.
I installed Fennec 43 beta4 on Android 3.1 (Samsung GT-P7510) and Android 4.0.4 (Samsung GT-P7510), but I could not find the shortcut of Fennec anywhere which means I could not launch Fennec.
And I tried with Fennec 43 beta6/beta4 yesterday, but I could not reproduce this bug anymore.
So I think this bug can be closed now, and we can reopen this bug if necessary.
