While editing a CSS property, value or selector it should be indicated whether the currently entered value is valid and applies to the selected element.
Firebug 2 does this by showing a red, yellow or green glow effect arround the inline editor. A description of what those colors mean can be found here:

This is a nice idea. Not going to be a priority in the coming months for the team though. Patches welcome though :)

Bug 1411664 addresses part of this issue. It updates the warning next to the declaration to indicate if the property name is invalid.
