is this by design?
Flags: needinfo?(chrislord.net)
I can't reproduce this on master, this is likely a platform issue - the animation is attached to the :active state of the element.
Flags: needinfo?(chrislord.net)
Component: Gaia::Homescreen → Panning and Zooming
Product: Firefox OS → Core
Moved to panning & zooming as I think that area is responsible for handling the active state, apologies if I'm mistaken.
We are still waiting for the UX spec on the :active state that was promised 1.5 years ago. That being said I'm thinking of redoing some of this code to fix bug 1227241 so maybe that will resolve the problem.

Never got the promised UX spec, and now it's too late. I still plan on fixing bug 1227241 so maybe this will get fixed magically one day.
