When adding home page locations, browser use all open tabs as Home Page including about:preferences tab.
about:preferences tab should not be adding to the list of locations. This is annoying for users when all time after click Home button is displayed about:preferences tab.
Came to post the same issue. It's a very minor annoyance to manually delete about:preferences from the homepage setting, but I suspect the vast majority of users who click "Use Current Pages" are not trying to have the preferences tab shown on startup.

For experiences users this is minor bug, but for common users is very annoying. Also why users have to manually deleted some characters? Firefox have option for set opened pages (Use Current Pages), not tabs.

Had the same experience for a while, glad I'm not the only one experiencing it. Easy solution would be blacklist/exclude about:preferences from the option, but that may become another bug for those that want it displayed at startup (though you can always use ALT+T+O or it's Linux/OSX equivalents on the fly).

^^Adding to previous comment^^
Suggestion: Change the homepage entry from "text-based with | separator" to UI-based like how Chrome and Edge manage homepage customization.
