For whatever reason I've been unable to hide the sidebar in the addressbook by modifying the default localstore.rdf. Help!

actually, you can. I'm able to do it. At first I wasn't, but then I remembered there was both bin/defaults/profile/localstore.rdf *and* bin/defaults/profile/US/localstore.rdf I bet blizzard did the same thing. I'll attach a patch for mozilla/profile/defaults/localstore.rdf that blizzard can apply to his tree, or to both localstore.rdfs in his bin/defaults directory. now the bigger question, do we want the sidebar off by default for addressbook in mozilla (or the next netscape release). jglick / putterman / kmurray?

note, my fix doesn't handle existing profiles. but, we don't want to mess with existing profiles anyway. as they would have minimized it if they didn't like it, or they would have kept it open (or opened it after closing it) if they did want it. I'll log a bugscape bug for the ns product.
