How to reproduce:
1. Click on an "unknown" download type (which has no associated application
with, for me it was application/x-gzip, gz)
2. Select an application to process (using Open Using an Application/Choose)
3. Click on Advanced, and cancel Advanced dialog
4. Notice that the "Open Using Application" is empty, the application selected
in step 2 is no longer there.

vrfy'd fixed using 2002.07.23-1.0 comm branch builds on linux rh7.2, win2k and
mac 10.1.5 (used test case in comment 0).
