this bug is to kick off discussion on Mozilla branding on TV Web Apps, such as 1. What/how do we Refer to it as in the long run? for now we refer to is as Web Apps discovery portal if we really need to describe it 2. Mozilla logo on the page?
Tori, can you provide some proposals on #2? for example, Mozilla tab on most of the Mozilla websites? Thanks

This is the branding proposal with Mozilla logo at right bottom corner. Mozilla branding guideline: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/styleguide/identity/mozilla/branding/

To: Ty Attached is the design for Firefox OS smart TV Web Apps discovery portal on Panasonic TV. To identify this web apps is owned by Mozilla, there's Mozilla logo on the button. So may need branding team to review the design if it follows branding guideline and also need branding team approval for this design.
To Ty: We need to get approval by Mar. 3rd. Thanks ~
I think that the most reliable direction would be to make the name of the marketplace more generic, and also more understandable to the user, and to further reduce Mozilla's exposure as the owner of the marketplace, and instead as the technological underpinnings. A way to do that would be: 1. Rename the "Web Apps discovery portal" to one of the following: A) "Apps" - preferred as long as we think users will understand what it is still. I suspect most users have enough experience with smartphones and app stores at this point, that this should be a very functional way to name the store. It's the most generic, easy to understand what will be found there if clicked, and doesn't over-promise a plethora of apps available B) "App Store" C) "App Market" 2. Alter the Mozilla branding by adding "powered by" so it reads "powered by Mozilla" Note - you have more direct experience with the users of the TV product, and this decision must take into account what you have learned about those users. If there are considerations that make these suggestions seriously problematic, I am happy to help find one that works for everyone.
Sorry to cut in, but I think it would be useful for Bradley to take a look at Bug 1223935. I agree that a longer term brand is needed. From a legal perspective, names using "Store" or "Market" will not work because we are trying to position this as a collection of links rather than a store where Mozilla is responsible for the content. And I'm fairly sure "Apps" won't work because Panasonic already has an apps store just labeled "Apps".

It's hard to give it a name with "web" idea and user can understand it soon. The marketplace and tv team decided to use "Web Apps discovery portal" as a short-term name before we figure out something better. > 2. Alter the Mozilla branding by adding "powered by" so it reads "powered by > Mozilla" Sure, ux team can handle it. @Helen could help with this?

Agree that "powered by Mozilla" is the right way to go for the sign-off in the lower right corner. For the screen itself, I'm assuming that "Web Apps" will be the name - and the entire phrase "Web Apps Discovery Portal" will be used only in related materials (such as owner's manual?) - since we need something short for the screen. If this is the case, I think we're OK with the full name in that context. Ideally even in printed reference, we could shorten this to "Web Apps Launch" for easier l10n and better fit with the rocket icon. Thanks, Tim
The visual is updated, Please refer to the page 7 & 13. I added "powered by Mozilla" on the footer, the logo is following the guideline here https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/powered-by/ Spec link http://bit.ly/1lr4WNu Let me know if any questions.
