The symptoms you're describing strongly indicates an out-of-memory issue, the error code 0x80070057 is possibly a clue to that as well. Could you please include your entire about:support, not just the Graphics section? Is Firefox 44 the first version where you saw these symptoms occur? Did anything else change on your system before this started occurring?

Bas, I'm wondering if you could help with this bug report? Does anything stand out from the about:support info? Is there something we can have the reporter do to debug this further?

Nothing in there is entirely crazy. I use a GTX 980 Ti myself and I've never seen anything like this fwiw, but that doesn't tend to mean much.

I also want to put this out there that the same thing happens with Thunderbird. So it's obviously a bug with the Mozilla framework in general.

Okay, I'm not sure what else to suggest since we can't reproduce this internally on the same hardware. Perhaps you could go back through past versions of Firefox to try to nail down when this started. That would at least give us a lead, of which we currently have none.

I'm going to bump this one with further information. I had originally thought it was an issue restricted to me/my particular setup (since it has been happening since Firefox 33), but it looks like someone else has it so I'll fill you in on reproduction. Just another Game Ready driver that's released every few months upon major game releases. I doubt this will solve the problem, but I've installed and will report back.
