User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:44.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/44.0 Build ID: 20160205155049 Steps to reproduce: Open Firefox menu, Click ? icon Click About Firefox. A window opens saying Firefox 44.0.1 Updates available at https://www.mozilla.org/firefox Click on the link, it opens and says "Congrats! You’re using the latest version of Firefox" Actual results: I'm told that I AM using the latest version of Firefox AND that updates are available for it. Expected results: EITHER the About box should NOT offer an update OR https://www.mozilla.org/firefox should offer me an update At time of writing there is an update but does it apply to Linux?

It sounds like the about dialog is behaving correctly; there really is an update available from 44.0 (44.0.2 is current at the moment), and I can reproduce that version not being offered any update on the web site.
