I am trying to open the URL: http://www.netbsd.org/ When doing this I get a popup with the following message: "The connection was refused when attempting to contact www.netbsd.org." When trying to access the url with lynx or netscape 4.78 or using telnet on port 80 there are no problems. There is no problem when using the ip directly within mozilla. Tried to use ethereal to look at the traffic but I cannot find out what might be wrong. Seems to quite some DNS-traffic. A guess is that it is there the problem resides. Is Mozilla using its own resolv-lib? I am running linux 2.4.17 on host. On gateway linux 2.4.17 with NAT running my own nameserver (correctly configured) Best regards Per-Olof Pettersson
Please always add a build ID in a bug report ! Can you try it with a nightly build ? A bug got fixed where Mozilla doesn't try more then one DNS Entrys for an IP.
Sorry for not giving build ID.. Stupid of me. Build ID is 2002020415 (0.9.8 release) Tried with nightly 2002021609 (gcc30-i686-pc-linux-gnu) Worked with this version. However used libgcc_s.so from a custom compile of glibc. If any relevance. There is an IPv6 (AAAA) RR on www.netbsd.org. Could this be what confused Mozilla? IPv6 is enabled on all my local machines but has no route. Best regards Per-Olof Pettersson
That could do it indeed.... The "we never try IPv4 if IPv6 resolved but failed" bug got fixed after 0.9.8....
Is it ok if I set this bug to FIXED?
I've made it WORKSFORME rather, since it was not really "associated with a known checkin" but suggestions were made. Hope that's OK !
