Build Identifier: https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/494289c72ba3997183e7b5beaca3e0447ecaf96d Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:48.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/48.0 ID:20160331030231 This is not a recent bug. The bug exists since implemented download panel. Seems only reproduce; a) when using Windows7 and Ubuntu14.04 (I did not test on the other OS) b) when Download is in progress and download toolbutton is in toolbar c) when hovering menuitems in bookmarks subfolder d) when the context menu overlaps the bookmarks popupmenu i.e. if you right-click on the right of the bookmark so that the context menu does not overlap then I cannot reproduce the bug. Removing download toolbutton from toolbar fixes the problem. Reproducible: always Steps To Reproduce: 1. Download something big data e.g, https://releases.ubuntu.com/20.10/ubuntu-20.10-desktop-amd64.iso 2. Open Bookmarks subfolder in the meinmenu or open folder of Bookmarks toolbar etc. 3. Right click on a bookmark 4. Mouse hover a places context menu menuitem. --- observe highlight the menuitem 5. Do not move mouse for a while (download is in progress) --- observe Actual Results: The highlight disappears immediately Expected Results: The highlight should not disappear

Too late for firefox 52, mass-wontfix.
~~Workaround: Remove the download toolbar button from toolbar.~~ The workaround does not work.
still reproduced on nightly64.0a1. screencast: https://youtu.be/yVWPS-joBB4
Component: XP Toolkit/Widgets: Menus → XUL

I can still reproduce on Nightly82.0a1 Windows10

I can reproduce the issue on Windows10 and Ubuntu20.04 at least.

[Tracking Requested - why for this release]:
It's an important UI issue. Reproducible during download progress.

I changed component. Because the XUL people seem to be inactive.

Component: XUL → DOM: UI Events & Focus Handling

I can't reproduce this on Fedora 33.

Sounds like this is a longstanding issue, I don't need to track for 87.

You should open Download Manager(Ctrl+J) in background.

Steps To Reproduce:

  1. Open Download Manager(Ctrl+J)

  2. Download something big data
    e.g, https://releases.ubuntu.com/20.10/ubuntu-20.10-desktop-amd64.iso

  3. Open Bookmarks subfolder in the main menu or open folder of Bookmarks toolbar etc.

  4. Right click on a bookmark

  5. Mouse hover a places context menu menuitem.
    --- observe highlight the menuitem

  6. Do not move mouse for a while (download is in progress)
    --- observe

Actual Results:
The highlight disappears when the download progress bar changes

Summary: Mouse over highlight bookmarks context menuitem disappears when downloads are in progress → Mouse over highlight bookmarks context menuitem disappears when the download progress bar changes

(In reply to Olli Pettay [:smaug] from comment #8)

I can't reproduce this on Fedora 33.

Does this not occur after all given "INCOMPLETE"?

I don't know what is Download Manager, but I tried with "Show All Downloads" and couldn't reproduce.

Since no one seems to be able to reproduce this. So, It is no longer necessary to track down this bug.

And I have following workaround.

  1. remove the download toolbutton from toolbar
  2. close the download manager

Screencast: https://youtu.be/oVo4Sh5mgrQ on Nightly87.0a1(20210217213226) Windows10.

STR:

  1. Open new private window (Ctrl+Shift+P)
  2. Start download any file
    https://jp.ubuntu.com/download/thank-you?version=20.10&architecture=amd64&platform=desktop
  3. Open Download manager (CTR+J)
  4. Open bookmarks menu
  5. Right click on a bookmark so that placescontext menu will pop up
  6. Mouse over the placescontext menuitem
  7. Wait for a second
    --- observe bug
  8. repeat from step 6

Actual results:
Highlighting disappears when the download progress is changed. see screencast.
