Details
Overview Description: When using tabbed panes, the first pane seems to determine what state the security information icon (the padlock in the lower-right hand corner) is in. So, if the first window is a non-secured page, then subsequent panes that use ssl do not change the state of the padlock icon (it is still unlocked with grey background). Since the padlock is the visual cue to the user that an ssl connection has been established, it becomes problematic when the icon is inconsistent. If the first page is an ssl protectected page, then the padlock icon for all subsequent panes show that the page is secured by ssl (locked padlock and yellow background) regardless of whether they actually are. This is also confusing to a user who actually uses the icon to determine the state of their connection. Steps to Reproduce: - Open browser - Go to www.google.com - Open a new tabbed pane - Go to www.fatbrain.com (or your favorite online shopping site) - Pretend to order something and proceed to checkout (typically starting an ssl connection). With fatbrain, make sure you select the secure connection when proceeding to checkout. - Notice that the icon does not reflect the ssl connection even though the url indicates the https protocol. - The converse of this will indicate a problem as well - Open the browser - Get to an ssl protected url (as indicated above) - Open a new tabbed pane - Go to www.google.com - Notice that the icon reflects an ssl connection even though the protocol in the url is only http Actual Results: The padlock icon only reflects the state of the first tabbed pane. Expected Results: I would expect that the padlock icon would reflect the state of each tabbed pane. Build Date and Platform: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:0.9.8) Gecko/20020204
