When the DOM properties are filtered their ancestors are also hidden, which disallows associating them.

Therefore, when filtering, the reference to their ancestors should be kept.
The simplest way to do this is probably by keeping the ancestor rows, but then it must somehow visible that those rows are only shown because of the reference.
