if I cancel when sending, the addressing widgets and the subject text are
disabled.
I am sure that this was fixed but if you can reproduce it can you give the steps?

I see this regularly on linux, including in today's trunk. No special steps
required to reproduce.

The dupe notes that this symptom also occurs when a save of a Draft (to an IMAP
folder) is cancelled.

I don't know whether, when this bug was filed, the preference to turn off the progress dialog (mailnews.show_send_progress) had been implemented. I'm assuming this bug was filed *with* a progress dialog, clicking Cancel.
Bug 129290, potentially a dupe of this, suggest that the exact behavior depends on when exactly the send is canceled.
I don't see the stated symptoms in that case. I do, however, see a similar symptom in Thunderbird 2a1/3a1 if I've: turned off the progress dialog, clicked the [X] button in the window, and clicked Quit. However, the original compose window is closed in this case; it's a new compose window that gets displayed, with these fields disabled as described.
See bug 320180 comment 2.

Saw this in SM with progress dialog (mailnews.show_send_progress) false (with true, afaict is WFM). Start sending very large message, click close X before finished sending, click quit, can't access To: field. But I couldn't replicate after my first attempt. Is bug 129290 comment 1 the key here?
Nikolay, can you test thunderbird behavior?

Wayne, what is address widgets anyway? I don't see any disabled controls on trunk. version 3.0a2pre (2008062703)

the "lines" where you type addresses and click/select To:, Cc:, etc.

Nope, I've seen this on early builds only. Right now when I press send it does blocks subj and to fields but after cancel unlocks them.
Miss your comment about setting mailnews.show_send_progress=FALSE it behave exactly as you say, blocks fields.
