From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.8) Gecko/20020205 BuildID: 2002020511 When viewing javascript-based image animations, with javascript enabled for the mozilla navigator, mozilla-bin (and the X server) processes appear to grow in size without bound, eventually causing system to swap. Possibly memory leak? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Run top to monitor process size 2.Go to url http://www.crh.noaa.gov/grr/forum/derecho_anim.html 3.Set maximum animation speed to observe problem quickly. 4.Watch mozilla-bin & X server process sizes monotonically grow. Actual Results: mozilla-bin process grows very large after running the animation for a sufficient time. Expected Results: mozilla-bin process should remain bounded after images have each been stored.
confirming using build 2002022503 on Win2k. Didn't look for a dupe.

Either dupe or related to bug 115474?
I can't see the leak anymore. Is this a dup of 110048?

This can also be reproduced at this URL... http://www.rap.ucar.edu/weather/satellite/displaySat.php3?region=AUS&isingle=multiple&itype=irbw I see the added behavior here (both Win98 and RH 7.2) of the animation becoming populated with the same image after time. For example, on the 34-frame loop referenced by the reporter, I had the same image on frames 1-21 after only about 10 minutes. This seems to be a widely used js image player. Especially at .gov and .edu weather sites.
I wonder if this could be related to Bug 128150?
