This is a regression from Bug 1258451. Given the other issues in that bug, I propose backing that patch out.

The changes in Bug 1258451 broke the -u suite[platform] syntax and
prevented |mach try| working with unknown testsuites. They therefore
need to be reverted until these issues are fixed.

This will be clearest if the backout is in the same bug and results in that bug being re-opened. Particularly as this backs out patches from multiple bugs.
