Details

Google just unveiled a new API to allow third-party apps to make (personal) content searchable by the Google search app and widget that is pre-installed on most Android phones nowadays. For now the API is not public yet though. I applied for early access.
Priority: -- → P3
Whiteboard: [MobileAS]
The new API has a dependency on Firebase. This has two issues: * For building an app with the Firebase API a gradle plugin is needed (We haven't switched to full gradle builds) * Currently after adding firebase-core the analytics part of Firebase will automatically be enabled, sending usage data to Firebase servers
(In reply to Sebastian Kaspari (:sebastian) from comment #1) > * Currently after adding firebase-core the analytics part of Firebase will > automatically be enabled, sending usage data to Firebase servers Analytics can be disabled: https://firebase.google.com/support/guides/disable-analytics
