Contact info: info@desjardinssecuritefinanciere.com
While using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.9+)
Gecko/20020318 Netscape6/6.2.1+ ; there is a pop-up saying that "the web site is
not optimized for Netscape 6.0 products"
When clicking on "Communiquer avec nous" there is an "unknown error" before
displaying the feedback form in a pop-up window. Same error occurs when clicking
on "mes finances" image, (top of page, in the middle).
Component -> "the americas" as it's a bank from Quebec.

I wrote them:
----------------------------------------------------
I wanted to visit your website using my linux computer and was very
disappointed with the following message:
----------------------
Incompatible Browser
This site is not optimized for your browser.
For a version that is supported by our site, Click the icon below.
Internet Explorer Netscape
----------------------
I'm using Mozilla Firefox 1.0 and you should be aware that Netscape is
indeed using the Mozilla Gecko rendering engine and thus can display
your site as well as any other Mozilla browsers. After having faked my
browsers identity I could access your website without any problem.
Mozilla browsers are getting more and more market share every day (about
20% as of october 2004) you should let these 20% potential customers
access your website as they are using 100% web standard compliant
browser. (see http://w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp)
In a hope that you'll remove or fix your browser detection script I'm
looking forward to hearing from you.
Your company deals with security; I'm sure you are aware that mozilla
browsers are known to be far more secure than Internet Explorer; this is
yet another reason to fix your web site.

P.S. Your website's bug is discussed here in mozilla's bug tracking
system: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131634 I'm
confident that it'll bring your company good publicity if you show that
you care about your customers.

Seems like FF market share augmentation resolved this problem.... Works in Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; fr; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6 but still giving problems with trunk vesions...

This may work with Firefox but not with browsers that don't have the string "Firefox" in their UA (e.g. SeaMonkey, Minefield), therefore, it's NOT fixed.

I still get some JS alert sheet in Camino whether I have "Firefox" in the UA string or not. I don't speak French, so I don't know what the sheet says, but yeah...
Comment 15•16 years ago
|
||
The alert says, in French: "AA3001 - The current site is not optimised for the navigator version that you're using.".
I don't get this alert if I have "Firefox/2.0.0.19" in my SeaMonkey user agent string.
