I've been seeing an occasional update problem for quite a while, but it seems to be happening more frequently and this is the first time with a crash (possibly from lack of patience previous times).

The symptoms:
* Tabs go away from the tab bar (but pinned tabs stay).
* The main screen stops updating. Switching to a different workspace and back fixes the main window but not the tabs.
* When I try to exit the process hangs around. This time it crashed, but I'm sure I've waited longer before killing it on previous incidents.

Running Nightly on Ubuntu. E10s is disabled.

I haven't tested with a new profile because the problem has been infrequent and I don't have any specific steps to reproduce.

There are no crashes prior to  2016-10-16 05:20:17 - which perhaps is an outlier. Starting  2016-10-27 22:49:01  crashes start happening across multiple versions of firefox AND Thunderbird [1].  Then there is a marginal uptick starting Oct 31, according to the graph of [2]

All of the crashes are ubuntu, with ~90% 0.0.0 Linux 4.4.0-45-generic #66-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 19 14:12:37 UTC 2016 x86_64 

So perhaps this is distro or addon related? (In just a quick attempt could not find a common addon)

I haven't seen this.
