It would be great to have filters for outgoing mail as well as incoming mail. I send masses of email from certain accounts and this would be a very useful feature for easing the location of sent mail, and speeding up the display of my sent mail (i.e. if it is all in one folder it takes longer to display the folder). However, one thing to think about is that outgoing mail filtered to a folder created by a user should still have the same options as if it was in the "Sent" folder. For example, Eudora has a "send again" option for mail in the "Sent" folder, but this breaks if you move the mail to another folder. Although Mozmail doesn't yet have this feature, it may be desirable to implement features specific to sent mail in the future. Perhaps there would need to be some way of marking/recognizing mail as being sent mail, or perhaps outgoing mail should only be allowed to be filtered to folders created with the type "Sent" (that in itself would of course be new). A comment in bug 11039 recommends that you BCC yourself. Then use an incoming filter to save the message into the correct folder.
