From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:0.9.8) Gecko/20020204 BuildID: 2002020406 I can log into most secure sites, but the lock symbol at the lower right corner of the screen stays red and unlocked, rather than yellow and locked as it did in previous Mozilla versions. So I do not know for sure whether my data transmissions are secure. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to any secure site (bank, mutual fund, credit card company, etc.) and log in to an area that should be secure. Try vanguard.com or americancentury.com, for example. 2. Conduct transactions that should be secure (check account balance, transfer funds, etc.) Actual Results: The little lock symbol in the lower right corner of the screen stays red/unlocked even on https sites and even after logging on with user name and secure (?) password. Expected Results: Either display the yellow lock symbol in "locked" mode or tell me that SSL is not functional.
Are you using tabs? If so this is a duplicate of bug 101723
Yes, disabling tabs solves the problem. Good call! So this is indeed probably a duplicate of 101723. I'm sorry I didn't spot it during my query of similar bugs. My bug does differ from bug #101723 in that (at least on my system) the lock icon doesn't work even in the first secure tabbed window when tabs are on. You might want to append this comment to the 101723 report; I'll leave it to your discretion.
I'm going to mark this as a dupe. bug 101273 has been fixed recently Can you try a recent nightly and see if you still have the same problem you described in comment #2(if so that would probably be a different bug)? *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 101273 ***

This is to confirm that the bug, as reported, no longer occurs in Mozilla 0.9.9 (build 2002031104). I gotta keep better tabs on the new releases! Sorry for the trouble.
