about:newtab unresponsive to left-click (as are entries made in the Location Bar & Search Bar). STR: browser.startup.homepage;about:newtab browser.startup.page;3 (load prior session on startup) about:newtab has to be the first tab (in sequence on startup) Start browser Visit the first tab (about:newtab) Left click any "icon" in about:newtab Type anything into the Location Bar (& hit return) Type anything into the Search bar (& hit return) Results: Nothing. No page is loaded. Expected: Clicking icon or entering a URL or a search term should cause a page to load. (Center-click of an icon does work).

Confirmed here, http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3027719. This looks to be a regression from FF 50 (I'm pretty sure).
I can confirm this. Started 1-2 months ago, both 32 and 64-bit FF Win 10. How to recreate: 1. set browser.startup.page = 3 //show tabs from last time 2. set browser.startup.homepage = about:newtab 3. set browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab = false 4. close all tabs (now the newtabpage is shown) 5. close FF 6. start FF Result: FF starts, flickers (some redraw), then the newtabpage is drawn. Clicking on any favorite page has no effect. Entering anything into the URL bar has no effect. The newtabpage seems to be 'disconnected' from the main app. Workaround: Close the newtab page. A new newtabpage is created, which works fine.
I can not reproduce this bug anymore. Version: 53.0 (32-bit) OS: Win7 x64 The confirmation (51.0.1 32-bit) in therube's link (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3027719) was by me :)
I can reproduce the same bug again in 54.0.1
