From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; Q312461) BuildID: 2002032803 sometimes I start up mozilla without the sidebar being displayed. If I then expand the tab on the left to see the sidebar. Sometimes it comes up without any tabs. Going to another site does not change the sidebar. This seems to be an intermitent fault. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Close sidebar. 2. Exit mozilla 3. Browse and then open sidebar Expected Results: Every time that I open the sidebar I expect it to display all the tabs. Every time.

Are you sure? SidebarRebuild() was supposed to be, erm, unhorked (bug 127113) on 2002-03-21, a week before reporter's build was made.
Yes I am sure! When I try and open the side bar, it sometimes shows a blue/grey coloured frame with 'Sidebar' at the top, 'tabs' and an 'x', but no 'Search', 'What's related' etc. Only way to get them back is to close browser down.

Andrew, look at bug 134803 that bug is now marked WFM. Is it possible this bug doesn't happen anymore if you do a clean re-install and new profile? if not then this might be a DUP of 119975 which we know about...
How are you ``opening'' the sidebar? Pressing F9? Using the View | Show/Hide | Sidebar option, or clicking on the ``grippy'' (on the vertical splitter to the left of the browser content area)? If you are using the sidebar button on the personal toolbar then this bug is fixed since that button was just backed out. Thanks.
I believe I am also experiencing this problem. If I collapse the sidebar using the "grippy" and then exit Mozilla (only one instance open), then when I start Mozilla again and expand the sidebar using the "grippy" the display is blank. I was able to restore the display by disabling/enabling a tab using the "Tabs" pull-down menu.

seeing as this bug has been reproduced by a couple of people and has two dupes... confirming. i'd this is related to bug 119975, if it's not a dupe.

seems to WFM for a couple of weeks now
I also have the same problem on Win2000. When opening Mozilla with the side bar compacted and then drag it open, instead of seeing the tabs, I just get a blank gray area with "search tabs x" at the top.
I can reproduce this bug with 2002101205-trunk/Linux.

No need for clean profile to reproduce this with 2003-02-23. I get strict javascript errors on the console: Warning: reference to undefined property sidebarObj.collapsed Source File: chrome://communicator/content/sidebar/sidebarOverlay.js Line: 1491
I'm seeing this on Mac OS X, Mach-O build 2003022511. I remember it happening months ago, then it disappeared, now it's back. I see these messages in the JavaScript Console: Error: popup has no properties Source File: chrome://messenger/content/mailNavigatorOverlay.xul Line: 89 Error: sidebarObj.panels has no properties Source File: chrome://communicator/content/sidebar/sidebarOverlay.js Line: 1494 The first appears when I start the browser (odd because I am not using mail), the second when I click the grippy. However, after deleting the localtore.rdf file, I no longer see the second message (but it doesn't solve the problem either).
Whoops, disregard my comment about localstore.rdf The second javascript error, Error: sidebarObj.panels has no properties Source File: chrome://communicator/content/sidebar/sidebarOverlay.js Line: 1494 occurs when the window with the collapsed sidebar does not have the focus (there is another window on top of it), and you click on the sidebar grippy.
