I have a problem with Firefox Beta 53. It also happens in Nightly 55, doesn't happen in Beta 52, ESR 45. In some cases it's impossible to grant permission to the page, if something is typed in location bar. (Note that I have nowhere to move the text from location bar, I can't copy it into clipboard, because it often contains important information). Here's how to reproduce the bug: 1. Open https://permission.site/ , type something in location bar 2. Click on "Location" button on the page, press Escape to disallow geolocation 3. Click on "Location" button on the page (assume that I came back to that tab after significant amount of time) Result: It's impossible to grant permission again, without canceling text in location bar Expected: Step 3 should just show permission panel again, or it should be possible to grant permission again without canceling text in location bar (for example, geolocation icon should be clickable, or (i) button should be clickable)
Just verified that it indeed started from Beta 53 and Nightly 55 (2017-04-03) is affected. All questions about validity of this bug should be redirected to designer. I think expected behavior is more user-friendly.

As suggested in Bug 1353769 comment 6, I tried to use Mozregression-gui. It generated this regression range: https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?fromchange=d4d3a7b6d57e06891f158ccb4bebf507a8d55d32&tochange=98cbc58cc6bc7bbdd6af853173b1c12b10ad47a1 Then I tried to test each changeset on mozilla-central and autoland branches. Results: autoland 9eba4bb9cb62 - bad autoland 3eb974e77d50 - good Therefore it was caused by Bug 1206232.

We don't allow opening the identity popup there because we can't show security indicators while the urlbar is not showing the original URL. This protects against URL spoofing. There is, however, another way to change permissions. Right click the page -> View Page Info -> Permissions.
