I noticed that the GMail accounts recently dropped out of the Unified view but could still be seen as sub-accounts to the Unified view. Then the Gmail accounts disappeared completely. Switching to Safe mode showed the Gmail accounts again as sub-accounts to the Unified view, but they were not included in the Unified view. The loss of GMail accounts completely was identifed in bug 1373161 and 1374244. Version 5.2.1 restored the appearance of GMail accounts as sub-accounts to the Unified view, but they were still not shown within the Unified view itself. I deleted the "smart mailboxes" folder and restarted, but it did not help. So my inbox shows having 21 unread messages, while my main GMail account has 266 unread messages. Actual results: The Unified view should show all messages, but only shows messages from non-GMail accounts. Expected results: Unified view should be showing the total of all email accounts registered with Thunderbird.

Okay, sorry not really a bug. Under the "Edit Saved Search Properties for Inbox" all the Gmail accounts had not been re-selected after the 5.2.1 resolution. Just a little time consuming to work through all the folders manually.

This is not cool. Can we remediate for this issue?
