Bug 1363485 makes the "stop aligning icons" logic kick in.

<shorlander> adw: fwiw I think we should keep aligning it. Even if that means we have to revert back to results panel being the same width as the url field.

I'm not sure how exactly this will be implemented, but I suggest for now we remove or somehow disable said code to unblock bug 1363485.
