Details
As follow up to bug 1301315, where the original purpose was to allow extensions to set a new default search provider, but then got rescoped to only adding additional search providers.
Please add support for the chrome_settings_overrides.search_provider.is_default api.
As stated in the referenced ticket, there was no decision whether this will be supported or not, a decision on this would be very helpful to continue planning or at least to know when a decision is going to be made to be able to plan accordingly.
Thanks Markus for starting the bug for this. It will be really helpful to know the direction for above.

I think this might be a duplicate of this bug if I'm not missing anything: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1374312
