Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1) BuildID: 20020419 prompts close all mosilla windows even when none and repeates nonstop Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.try to install Fridays daily 2.cry 3. Actual Results: wont install and wont stop asking w/o a reboot Expected Results: install
remmove mozilla from computer and then installs
Reporter: Have you checked that mozilla.exe is not listed under "Processes" in the task manager?
The comment added of see if the process is still active is exactly what is wrong. The installer needs to install the stuff --no check this, remove that, change this to that nonesense. If the process needs to be checked either the error msg needs to include it or a workaround is done. The Windows enviroment at this point expects products to install anad work and the longer the UNIX mentatlity supports the do this then do that and then reinstall there will not be a siginicant market share for mozilla.
> The Windows enviroment at this point expects products to install anad work This is why InstallShield always says to turn everything off before installing? Basically, you're overwriting your existing mozilla installation. Doing so while Mozilla is running will cause the currently running Mozilla process to die (since it will wipe out the executable and all associated files). Since you may have unsaved work in there, we politely ask you to shut it down before continuing the install. Are you using the "QuickLaunch" feature? If all you had running was the background quicklaunch stuff we should try to determine that and just shut mozilla down...
This is a duplicate of one of curt's bugs

I agree. The only thing that any Windows Installer program may do for the user is automatically close the program first. Not completely necessary, however, a nice feature. Probably target for 1.1 or higher, if anything. It's a dummy feature, not a bug.
